Recorded live at The Hunter Club, Bury St Edmunds, UK, Saturday 4th May 2013.
Coming on like Fleetwood Mac covering dEUS via Fugazi and early Verve, Horse Party got together in September 2012 after a night spent drinking in a church. Bonding over a shared love of Bjork, Savages, Daughter and terrible movies, the threesome hatched a simple plan: Firstly, in blanded-out times, to release records that sound like no-one else. Secondly, to either make or lose a million pounds.
Led by Eleanor Lou and Seymour Quigley’s twin guitar/vocal attack and release, powered along by Shannon Hope’s devastating drums, Horse Party are impossible to pigeonhole: Imbued with punk spirit, but not cartoonish. Sometimes ethereal, but never whimsical. Bluesy, but not blues. Outsiders, but decidedly not indie.
A free download in January 2013 quickly led to support offers with rising alt-stars Dingus Khan and Tied To The Mast, and a live broadcast via BBC Introducing from the John Peel Centre. April 2013 saw the release of critically-lauded debut single, ‘Back To Mono’.
